Solar security cameras and CCTV systems designed and installed by Suffolk Fire and Security
Why use Solar Security Cameras?
Ordinarily, solar security cameras and CCTV systems are used when a mains power connection is not available
How do solar security cameras work?
Solar CCTV systems are connected into a typical solar system setup. The solar system comprises of a solar panel, solar controller and a battery. During daylight hours the solar panel powers the CCTV and charges the battery via the controller. After sunset the battery then powers the CCTV, until sunrise when the cycle repeats.
How do I access my Solar security cameras?
Usually when mains power isn’t present it normally means neither is a data connection. We use 4G Routers with a data SIM to enable the solar camera to connect to the internet. Once this connection is active you can then login to the camera via a smartphone app or Laptop, from anywhere in the world. Our 4G routers also have a Wi-Fi connection so that you can access the system locally.
Furthermore, if you have direct line of site from the solar camera location to your buildings we can send the data across to the building to display on a monitor
Does the solar camera record?
Our solar security cameras ordinarily record onto an SD card inside the camera. We set the cameras to record on motion so that up to 28 days of storage is possible, depending upon location.
It is possible to record the solar camera images onto a recorder if there is line of sight to your buildings
What image quality can I expect?
Our solar security cameras are able to record images up to 4k (8 megapixel). The better the image quality the more chance of identification or persons and vehicles. Our basic solar cameras start at 6 Megapixel
What other features are possible?
The most commonly used features on our solar security cameras are intrusion detection and trip wire notifications. We can set up virtual areas within the camera. When the area is entered, the solar camera sends a notification to the app, along with a picture of what has triggered the notification. This gives you a head start if intruders are on your property.
What is the uptime of the Solar camera?
Our solar cameras are able to be in operation 24/7. We design the systems from scratch. This means we size the equipment to be able to provide full time operation. Our designs account for winter months where sunlight hours are reduced. Our basic solar systems are able to remain operational for up to 10 days without any sunlight at all.
