Nurse Call

Suffolk Fire and Security are specialists in designing, installing, maintaining and repairing nurse call systems.

Nurse call systems can be the difference between life and death. They are fitted in premises that have vulnerable people inside. These types of premises include hospitals and homes for the elderly.

How does a nurse call system work?

Systems can be designed to suit specific needs, but they all have one thing in common. When a call is raised, display units around the property sound an alarm and display exactly where the call has been generated. Anyone responding to the call can either speak through the system to the caller, or they can make their way directly there. Once approaching the location a LED will be illuminated on the outside of the room for added clarification. If backup is needed, an emergency call can then be generated from the call unit, changing the alarm tone at all the displays to indicate that immediate assistance is needed.

Calls can be generated from call units themselves, in each individual room.
Wireless pendants can be used which link wirelessly to the call unit in the room.
Pull cords above beds or in toilets can be wired to the call unit.
Pear leads and pressure mats can be plugged directly into the front of the call unit, if removed this will also generate a call condition.
Doors can be monitored by the system so that if a door is opened without a time delay button being pressed, the door will generate a call. This can be especially useful for dementia patients as they can be quickly found.
