Firstly, all of our technicians are qualified to BS5306 Parts 3 and 8. Therefore, we have the knowledge and experience to design, install and service your portable fire extinguishers. As a result, your portable fire fighting equipment will be in good working order.
Secondly, legally your fire extinguishers must be maintained every 12 months, by a competent person. A correctly serviced fire extinguisher will be able to put out a small fire, when used on the correct type of fire. If they are not serviced correctly, and fail to operate, loss of life, and / or severe damage to a building could occur.

All of your portable fire extinguishing equipment must be:
Sited in the correct area for the risk present
Easily accessible
Clearly identified with the correct sign
Mounted to a wall using a bracket, or, placed in a floor stand on the floor
Visually inspected at least once a month to check for signs of tampering / use
Serviced annually by a competent person
Replaced or refilled at the correct intervals

Each type of extinguisher can tackle specific classes of fire, there are 5 classes of fire;
A – Solids
B -Liquids
C – Gases
D -Metals
F – Cooking Oils
Interestingly, Electrical fires are not defined as a class. when the electricity is turned off the fire becomes one of the above classes. You can still use dry powder and CO2 on electrical fires. Obviously, DO NOT attempt to tackle an electrical fire with water based extinguishers
Fire extinguishers are the first line of defence in the event of a small fire. It is critical that the correct type is used for the class of fire. Therefore, they should only be used by trained persons
