Access Control solutions to secure and monitor your premises
Control the flow of traffic to and from your premises with an access control system. Access control allows you to manage access to and from specific areas around or within a building.
Types of Access Control
Intercom systems – Audio or Visual intercom systems work as a doorbell type of system with a call unit and handset. The system allows communication between the call unit and handset without physically having to go to the door. If access is granted electronic locks can release the door momentarily to allow access
Standalone – The simplest type of access control. This type of system comprises of either a keypad or proximity reader that is used to restrict access. Standalone units are controlled locally at the keypad or reader which will hold all the access codes or proximity card details within the unit. Standalone systems must be physically programmed at the unit. Generally this type of system cannot be interrogated for previous events
Networked – This type of system generally comprises of a keypad or proximity reader used to control access. These will be controlled from a control unit that communicates to a server running the access control software. All controllers can be programmed and interrogated from a central location, this gives a much greater level of control to the client.
Benefits of an Access Control System
Can be used on Doors, Gates, Barriers, Lifts, anywhere where there is a physical barrier between two areas.
Reduces the need for multiple keys, 1 card or code can be used to access multiple areas
Users can be individually setup to have access to specific doors between certain hours
Full time stamped event list showing user movements within the building
Networked systems can even be setup to generate time sheets for employees
Can be integrated into alarm systems so that access will not be granted unless the user has the ability to turn off the alarm system if the alarm system is armed
Networked systems can be controlled remotely by a Laptop or even a mobile telephone with the use of software such as TeamViewer
Types of Locking Mechanism
As detailed above you can integrate the access control units into existing physical barriers, including gate automation equipment, traffic barriers and lifts.
Doors can be retrofitted with a variety of locking options including:
Maglocks
Electric Strikes
Solenoid Bolts
Shear Locks
Integrated UPVC locking systems
Wireless Door Handles
Integration with other systems
Access control systems can be integrated with other security and life safety systems, including:
Intruder alarms – You can use the access control system as a setting and un-setting point. Only confirmed alarm system users are able to use this facility. As an example, if a user without alarm system access attempted to gain access to the premises out of hours, while the alarm system is armed, the access control will refuse access to the user
CCTV systems – When an event is created a link can be clicked that will bring up a video feed of the camera linked to that area
Fire Alarm Systems – When a fire alarm condition is triggered has the ability to release locks on the escape routes so that safe passage to exit points is allowed.
Popular Brands of Access Control
