Types Of Automation Systems
Automatic Doors – Are designed to improve accessibility through door ways, especially for disabled people. The door/s are connected to an electric motor, when an input to open the door is activated the doors will go through an open cycle to allow the person/s through
Gate Automation – Can be installed to existing gates. Gate automation systems are used to improve accessibility and secure entrances into a property. The gate/s are connected to an electric motor that opens and closes the gates when an input is triggered.
Safety
As soon as a door or gate is connected to a motor all components become part of a Machine. Therefore, it must be installed to comply with the Machinery Directive.
This means that the system must be installed to reduce the risk of crushing, shearing, impact and drawing-in hazards. This can be done by using physical barriers, or safety devices.
We will not cut corners when installing or maintaining automation systems. A risk assessment will be carried out prior to any installation or maintenance / repair work. If an accident was to occur, the responsibility lies with the last person to work on the system. This could result in a prison sentence if the accident is serious enough. We will only ever fit a safe automation system. If we are asked to repair or maintain a system that we believe to be unsafe, we will turn the system off until provisions to make safe have been implemented. This protects both us and our clients from possible future legal issues.
